AC MOOR SPRING CLASSIC

The UCF Women's Club Soccer Team participated in the A.C. MOORE SPRING CLASSIC hosted by the University of Florida. The Ladies played in two games on Saturday March 28, the first game was held at 1:30 pm against the Universty of Miami. The Lady Knights were subject to making some adjustments on the field due to some players who were injured prior to the tournament. Leanne Hill stepped up an played some great soccer as sweeper for the Knights along with the defense, Dana Barnishel and Sumiko Chipman who keep the knights defensively strong. In the first ten minutes of the game an escape from the center mid-field led the knights to a 0-1 loss, but that did not stop the knights. Jessica Mantler was able to score a well placed goal in the back of the net from the center midfield, with a great assist from the forwards. As the wind picked up in the second half the Knights continued with a 1-1 tie, the lady knights were able to pick up the pace and play some great balls and combinations to the forwards. Elise Larrett was ableto get a breakaway from half way of the field and scored a second goal for the knights. Leaving the Knights with a 2-1 WIN. Later in the evening at 4:30 pm the UCF Women's Club Soccer Team played against the University of Florida. Monica Bertram and Evi Sirriani stepped up as sweepers in the game and put forth some great hustle and saves in the defense while Karen McDaniel showed some great defensive skills as stopper during the game. Unforunateley the UF Womens Team was able to place a goal on the back of the net, leading them 1-0. But the Knights placed some great pressure on them and played some great combinations on the field. Leading to another breakaway from Elise Larrett in the forward who was able to place the only goal in the UF net. Though the lady Knights played a great game with some great composure, the final score was a 4-1 Loss by the Knights. Overall the UCF Womens Soccer Club played a great tournament and really were able to show there skills to their competitors.
